Overview: Solar charged led camping lamp that will last over 30 hours on a single charge using only two AA NiCd rechargable batteries. The lamp is water-proof and will float making it perfect for recreational uses. The led bulbs produces no heat so it can be left on in the tent with no worries. It is bright enough for area lighting or can be used as a spot light to read or play board games it can also be left on all night as a comfort light.
Total cost for parts is around $10 or less. The two solar cells, NiCd batteries and electronic components were recycled from solar garden lights, white led bulbs can be recycled from inexpensive battery powered led closet lights. The box is made from central vacume tube (PVC) plastic which has been cut, heated and pressed flat.
Materials: thin wall PVC pipe, PVC Cement, clear silicone, super glue, wire, shrink tube. Components: solar cells, AA rechargable NiCd batteries, white led, Schottky diode, resistor, switch Tools: drill, utility knife, soldering iron, small brush, small square.
